The female gender, whether she’s a mother, sister, daughter or wife is beautiful and fragile. She is to be taken care of and loved. The importance of daughters can only be felt by people who realise how precious they are since Allah SWT called them HIS rahma (mercy). Unfortunately du,e to Hindu religious influence on us Indo/Pak Muslims, we too rejoice less on the birth of a daughter. At the same time though, as our daughters grow older we wish to settle them in the most well off homes and rich families. The standards we’ve set for our daughters future homes and future husbands are far from what Islam teaches us!

We should understand that just like we get our little ones vaccinated in order to protect them from diseases, we should make our teenagers take Quran course before marrying them off in order to provide them with a strong base to begin their new lives and also to protect them from potential damage, ignorance can cause.

The importance and respect of the female gender can only be realized and accepted in our society when we learn and practice the teachings of Islam and build our connection with our Creator Allah SWT.

From our birth to our graves, in fact, even beyond that, Islam guides us through it all! Then why is it that humanity is losing itself into the pits of darkness and ignorance? Why is it that the birth of a daughter is considered unfortunate? Although our beloved Prophet SAW called her to be our path to Paradise. He SAW gave the glad tidings of Jannah on raising even one daughter well!

With the right upbringing which is according to the teachings of our beautiful religion Islam, our daughters not only become a blessing, a rahma (mercy) for us in this world but also our ticket to Jannah in the next! In sha Allah!
